The Harriett Lieberman Camp Scholarship Fund
Harriett Lieberman was beloved by the Pinellas county community. Born in New York, Harriett came to the area in 1950. She was passionate about building up a strong Jewish community, being one of the first Founders of Menorah Manor in 1983, and she established the first area Jewish Girl Scout Troop. Harriet was a three time past president of the Jewish Community Center of Pinellas County, and was a volunteer director for two years. She had established a Camp Kadima Scholarship fund while being honored as one of the Pillars of the Community in 2007. Her kindness and generosity will always be remembered.
Harriet recognized the importance of Jewish camp experiences, and the special impact that it has on a child’s life. The Harriett Lieberman Camp Scholarship Fund at Camp Gan Israel was Endowed by her daughters, Jackie Kanner and Susan LaPlante, the scholarship fund extends assistance so that every child in the Jewish community is granted the opportunity to enjoy a summer of fun, growth and friends in a Jewish camp setting.
